[01:14] Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another exciting episode of Mick Unplugged. And today I'm sitting down with the certified beast. I'm talking about someone who's changed my life through his words. And to now meet him in person, the energy that he has. I know why every rapper is in his DMs. Every business person is in his DMs. He is none other than the king himself. [01:43] Mr.
Wallow 267. Mick, I just want to let you know, man, listen. [01:48] Same thing you say about me, I can say about you. Great things. You are legendary speaker. [01:53] Top. [01:54] Not globally. [01:55] in the world top podcaster. He went to top 10. You know what I mean? You that guy. So I'm just thankful that you even allow me to be a part of your platform, you know? [02:03] Man, I'm the honored one. Like I was telling you when I got here, man, like when my team said, [02:08] Walla wants you I said me [02:10] Bam.
[02:11] I gotta go to him. [02:13] I appreciate it. And you bless me. [02:15] to be here in the studio. [02:17] Wearing airplanes in hotels. Appreciate that, yes. Yeah, the swag. They feel comfortable, ain't they? [02:21] These might be the best shoes on the market. Damn, I appreciate it. You know, you know. [02:25] You know, you know, Wallow, man, again, honor to have you, honor to be with you. [02:30] You know, I start every episode asking my guest about their because. [02:36] Right. That thing that's deeper than your white. Simon Sinek taught us to start with why.
But I believe your true purpose is your because. Right. If I were to ask you, what's your why? And then I say, but why? [02:47] That sentence usually starts with well because and I care about that moment that will be caused moment so if I were to say wallow man like [02:55] today. [02:57] book coming out [02:59] You inspire so many people. What's your because? Why do you keep doing what you do? [03:05] You know, I wanted to be the help. [03:07] The help that I wanted when I was in prison, I wanted to be there for other people.
You know... [03:12] I used to always wanting to push and I used to get pushed to different people, watching people on TV. I told you about less, uh, you know, uh, Anthony Bourdain. And I'll be like, you know, [03:22] Won't I become... [03:23] what I want for myself when I needed it the most. And that was just a push. [03:27] to help. And I think being a push [03:30] is very important out here because you don't know how a simple little push. [03:35] You know, [03:36] Oh [03:37] It don't have to be physical, but a verbal push.
[03:39] To help somebody get through their day. [03:41] Can help somebody get out of a dark spot. Can help somebody get closer to materializing their dreams. [03:46] They could do a lot for them, you know, so it was like [03:49] I just wanted to be the push. [03:51] That's my because I'm going to push people the way I needed to push the way I needed to lift, you know, just a hand. [03:56] Yeah. [03:57] When did you know? [04:00] That that was you. [04:02] I didn't. You know what, Mick? [04:05] I realized even when I was young, growing up, even in the streets, I always was funny.
[04:09] I always try to and sometimes the push is not just in. [04:13] Encouragement is inhumance and all that. And I've realized when I think about when I was a kid, I always was that kid that was like, [04:20] I was like upbeat. [04:22] Yeah. Always. You know me. So it was like. [04:24] I think I had it, but I ain't identified till I was later on in prison. You don't identify with it till later on in life. You know, so it just be like, that's how I be. It just is different.
[04:33] Yeah. And why is that push important to you now? [04:38] It's more important now because, you know, as you can see, a lot of a lot of things is changing in the country. A lot of rough times and people just need it even more now. Yes, sir. And then social media came and social media put a lot of people under pressure. A lot of people feel as though they're not where they want to be in a life. So they, you know. [04:52] it makes it mess a lot of people up.
So he'd just be like, [04:56] Right now, people really need that encouragement more than ever. Absolutely. And what I love about you and that push is... [05:03] Knowing your story, knowing your journey, and we're going to get into the book to this book in a moment. But your other books, man, it's like. [05:12] You reach everyone. [05:14] There's so many cats. [05:16] that can talk to the younger generation. [05:19] But you inspire... [05:21] those that have come before us because we're about the same age yes right you inspire those that are in our age group and you inspire those that are coming up man like [05:31] Not many people can do that.
You talk about a less Brown and the legacy that he's had. [05:38] I look at you at that same way. Thank you. I look at you at that same way because [05:42] Doesn't matter who it is. [05:44] Doesn't matter where you come from when you speak. [05:46] People feel that, dude. [05:48] People feel that. And I want to give you your flowers because a lot of times when we. [05:54] are in the zone of genius and greatness like you are. [05:58] you don't understand the depth that you have. And so I want you to know the depth that you have, brother.
Appreciate you, man. Thank you, Nick. Yeah. Thank you so much, Nick. [06:07] So, [06:07] I have this segment that I call... [06:10] The unplugged truth. [06:15] And again, knowing the books that you've written and oh, by the way, New York Times bestseller, [06:22] by the way, New York Times bestselling author, by the way, TEDx speaker, by the way. [06:29] We all have these beliefs, or at least I do. Right. I have beliefs when I was a kid, when I was a young adult. [06:37] that I don't have anymore. Do you have any beliefs [06:40] that you once believed in, that you once fought for, that now it's like, [06:44] That was silly.
I don't believe in that anymore. Yeah, I believed in the streets and the street culture, the mindset. I believe that that was real until, you know, you grow, you know, it gets you in all these bad spots. But not just about getting in bad spots. You realize that. [06:57] Am I really... [06:59] Got a belief in something that's really BS. [07:02] So, you know, just coming up out of that, you know, because when you're young, you want to be down. I wasn't in the streets because I was just a street.
[07:08] I just wanted to be down and wanted to be accepted by this idea of what cool supposed to be. Yeah. You know, a lot of times in the inner city, cool is based off of being a criminal. And it's that's I think that's the craziest thing in the world. And just the fact of. [07:23] I'm sitting here and as I got old, I'm like, hold up. [07:26] I got it. [07:27] I started committing crimes because I want to be accepted by some people that I thought was cool. That was followers themselves.
So we all just followers in this big following pool. [07:35] And we all trying to impress each other. [07:37] And we don't even know what we're doing, but we're willing to risk our lives to be accepted by some people that don't even accept their self. They're still trying to find their self. So we all out here trying to find ourself. And I'm like, hold up. I want to be cool. [07:48] Let me be a criminal. So it was like, [07:50] I believed in that shit. When you wake up, you realize, hold up.
[07:55] what was I doing? Is I'm crazy? Yeah. It is. [07:59] Hard pill to swallow, man. [08:00] And so, you know, when I told you that I look up to you and you mentor me from afar, [08:06] That right there is exactly one of the lessons that I had to let go of because I [08:11] I used to believe that [08:13] Loyalty. [08:15] and hanging. [08:18] was the right thing to always do. [08:21] But then you taught me [08:23] Peace of mind is more important. The older you get, it's about peace and you've got to let go of certain things and sometimes certain people.
I love for you to talk to the audience about that and why that's so important of. [08:36] Peace. [08:37] Let me tell you something, mate. You know this. [08:39] And the grown man, Mick, [08:42] If you're not on the rule today, you're not on the rule. [08:45] n. [08:46] You might get up in the morning, take your little walk, do whatever, get your sweat workout, whatever. [08:51] And let me take you somewhere. [08:53] If you come in the house, you take their shower, Mick. [08:57] your wife, or you make that sandwich.
You know that sandwich I'm talking about, that nice sandwich with bread all fluffy. Yes, sir. Cheese, whatever sandwich with tuna, whatever sandwich you got, got your chips on a plate. [09:09] You sitting here your favorite chair or you? [09:12] You go lay down. [09:14] You eat that sandwich. [09:16] Watch it whatever. [09:18] The air is blowing through the house wherever you got a window open or wherever is the AC. Mm-hmm. [09:23] He relaxed. [09:25] You get to a point in your life where it's though. [09:28] Nothing supersede peace. Nothing supersede a good neck.
[09:32] That good recharge when you go to sleep. Because I'm one of them dudes that like, what I be chasing, I be trying to get up. [09:38] When I'm up early, I'm trying to do as much as possible. So around like one or two o'clock, I can go to sleep. That's why I'm chasing that. I'm like, yeah, let me get, I got to go to the post office. I got to drop this off. I got to ship this. I got to do this. I got to return these emails. I got to write this down.
I got to read this article. I got to talk to these people on the phone. I got to go here. I'm trying to get to that nap. [09:56] That's just me. Because one thing about me is this one thing, Mick. [10:00] I love. [10:02] To go to sleep around. [10:04] two, three, and then wake up. [10:08] Seven. [10:10] I could do my research on YouTube. [10:13] read something, write some stuff down on my book, I feel like I'm winning. [10:19] like to be up when everybody was going to sleep, I feel like I'm winning.
But just, just the fact that I don't know what it is about that. I'd be chasing that, that, that, that, that, that, just that sleep and that peace, that soft bed, especially I might go ride the bike. [10:32] All my, uh, [10:33] do a run or a walk, right? I do a run or a walk, ride the bike, Nick. [10:38] When I jump in that shower, [10:40] And that water hit my body and break my body down. How would I be like, yes. [10:44] All I'm thinking about is getting to that bed.
[10:46] Mm-hmm. Because sometimes I might drink a smoothie or juice. Orange juice. I'm getting up under that bed, that sheet. And you get up under the sheet and the blanket, and you got the house a little cool. Yes, sir. [10:58] I'm 47 in June. That's my life. I love that. I don't like a lot of stuff, you know, people think. [11:04] Nah. When you can take your... When you did something, it's like multiple feelings. People might think I'm crazy, but [11:13] You know that feeling when [11:15] You take your shoes off.
[11:18] You take your socks off and your feet just be like, your feet just breathe. And you just like it's the simple stuff is that simple stuff is just like, you know, just being able to wake up and go back to sleep because you can. That's something that's peace. [11:30] best piece [11:32] I'm going to have to chase naps now, man. Man, listen. I've never napped. Man, listen. [11:38] You get one of them. Just try it. Okay. Like you get one of them. [11:42] You're going to feel so good when you wake up around because now.
[11:46] I don't know what it is. [11:48] I love to work in the nighttime. Mm-hmm. [11:50] Something about it. Yeah, especially when I'm already charged because I can push all the way through the night because if I because I go to sleep like [11:57] Two, three, wake up seven, eight, some stuff like that. [12:01] I could push all the way through the night. So if I got something to do, I could write it down. Get anything done I need to get done. Yeah. So by the morning, I could just say then, [12:08] Four in the morning, go back to sleep.
[12:10] Wake back up like seven, eight, do what I need to do. [12:13] You know, because like where I'm at now. [12:16] I'm more focused on... [12:18] I got a lot of different projects I'm working on. Yeah. [12:21] I'm more caught up in that than... [12:23] Just posting on social media to be posted. Yeah. [12:26] I'm more focused on that. So I ain't got to. [12:28] you know, always catered at. Yeah. [12:32] No, I love that, man. Another truth you taught me. [12:36] was the importance of health. [12:39] Man, we've all heard [12:42] You know, health is wealth.
We all know that, right? Mm-hmm. [12:45] but you actually put it into play. [12:47] And I know it wasn't meant to be comedy, but, you know, you've got some really cool Instagram posts of you. [12:54] making spaghetti out of, out of oodles and noodles. Right. Yeah. [12:59] But the message behind what you're talking about, though, is. [13:02] Is one preparing for yourself. Mm-hmm. [13:06] and two [13:07] The health benefits of just being healthy. You know what? [13:10] I have to thank you for that, man. I'm down between you and Damon John and Robert Irvine.
Y'all collectively have helped me lose 47 pounds. Oh, man, that's a blessing. I'm not rounding up yet because I haven't hit 50, but y'all helped me [13:22] You know how major that is because, listen, [13:26] Not just health, [13:27] Like, I shared on my... [13:31] my page. [13:32] When I had a colonoscopy, I shared on my page when I was going to get a colon cancer check. I share all this stuff because I'm like... [13:40] I'm late. [13:42] Let's make it cool to live. Right. Let's make it cool to stay healthy.
[13:46] Um. [13:48] Let's really make it cool to just, you know, and you know what I'm going to do? [13:52] Yes. [13:54] I'm going to try to do something for my birthday. [13:56] Boca? [13:58] Wisdom. [14:01] I guess a couple hundred minutes you get checked out. [14:05] I'll support it. [14:06] I got to do something like that. [14:08] June 25th, I'm a child to do something. It depends on where I'm at. I want to do something weird, though, because I'm feeling like a lot of men. Because I didn't know this, right?
[14:15] But when I posted this stuff, I seen a lot of women in the comments like, yo, my dad, I'm sending this to my dad. You need to watch. Like. [14:22] Especially black men be afraid to get checkups and stuff. [14:25] And I'm like, why? [14:27] We should totally do it. I'll support it because your birthday is actually the same day as my oldest son. See June 21st. Oh, I thought it was the 25th. No 21st. Well, that same week, that same week, because I'm like. [14:40] But I started posting that stuff, man.
I'm like, hold up. [14:42] People not jumping on this stuff like this. I thought people was on it. I didn't know. Yeah. [14:48] You know, when I did the colonoscopy, man, listen, man. [14:51] I had to take some stuff. [14:54] I was listening. [14:55] I basically lived in the bathroom. [14:58] Mm. [14:59] I was pooping so much, right? [15:01] No, because you got to clean out the day before. Right. So listen. [15:04] I'm pooping so much, right? [15:06] I go to get up and I can't even get up. Anytime I get up.
So so so when I did, I had to crawl and I had to lay on the ground. I had a blanket right there in the toilet. [15:16] I was laying on the floor, it cleaned me out so much. But then when I went the next day, I was so happy. [15:20] Because I went and, you know, you put a camera in you to see what's going on, right? Mm-hmm. [15:26] Alito. [15:27] And the lady's like, you're ready to be asleep. I'm like, all right. [15:30] And he gave you that, what's that thing that puts you to sleep?
[15:33] Oh, yes. [15:35] Huh? Yeah, whatever that is. Laughing guys. OK, no, but this was a laugh. And I was asleep. She's like, you know, I went to sleep. [15:42] It was done in a heartbeat. And when I talked to the doc, he's like, you're cool. You're cool. I was like, wow. [15:47] But it felt good to walk out of there knowing that. And I shared it with everybody. But to walk out of there knowing I'm healthy, it was everything. [15:54] Yeah. [15:55] So we're about to go there now, bro.
Let's do it. [15:58] Because I'm here about this book. Yes. Yes. That's why I'm here. I'm here. [16:01] That's why I'm here. And I call this one the hot takes. But the hot takes are all about yes to you, no to them. [16:11] And... [16:12] The title grabbed me first and foremost. Uh-huh. [16:15] And I was like, wow. And then I got into the book. [16:18] And for everybody that's watching. [16:20] For everybody that's listening. [16:23] This book is... [16:24] It's like a book of passages, man. Like you could, I was telling you my kids, my sons, [16:30] Every day they open something up and it's like, I need that message today.
And that's what they do. The book, number one, is well written. [16:37] Out. [16:39] For those that don't have the book yet, one, go get it. But two... [16:42] It's written where like there's a quote. [16:45] And then Wallow breaks down the quote on the next page. And every page, every section is just like that. So it's the easiest read you'll ever have. But it's also very meaningful. [16:55] And you have some quotes in this book, man, that one I align with and two I want to get into. [17:00] And the first quote that got me.
[17:03] was... [17:04] Winning ain't for everybody. [17:06] Yes. [17:07] And it shook me. [17:09] Because it made me go back and look at things in my life where you talk about being that push. [17:15] Because people like you and I, we want people to win with us. Right? Like, what makes you unique? [17:21] is that you genuinely do care about other people winning. Yeah, once you win. [17:25] But you said winning ain't for everybody. [17:27] Everybody doesn't have the discipline. Everybody doesn't have the ethics. Everybody doesn't have that thing that they're willing to fight for.
And no matter how bad you want it for somebody else. [17:38] You can't give it to them, man. So talk to us about why winning ain't for everybody. [17:42] Because... [17:44] When you say you want to win, [17:45] There's a bunch of discipline to come with that. See, saying yes to yourself is harder than saying yes. [17:50] Notice somebody else. [17:52] Yep. Or saying yes to somebody else. [17:56] See, when you say yes to yourself, there's a lot of work that got to come. [18:00] So when you say you want to win, [18:02] There's a lot of working discipline.
People don't. [18:04] That's why winning ain't for everybody. People are not willing to put their discipline in there, that working. They're like, no, I want to win, but... [18:12] Right. You know, I want to be the best football player in the world, but I got to work out. I got to eat right. I got to make sure I'm training. I got to. I want to do that. Right. I want to have the best business in the world. I got to do this. I got it. [18:22] I don't want to do it.
Winning ain't for anybody. It's not, man. You've said it a billion times. I've heard Michael Jordan talk about it. I heard Steph Curry, LeBron James. I'll say it. [18:35] When you really start winning, you seek boring. [18:39] Right. Like you seek that monotony, that that grind that nobody else wants to do until it becomes boring for you. And that just becomes who you are. And I don't think people understand that, man. Like people think greatness. [18:52] is always about pushing yourself that's how it starts [18:55] But then you seek just like you seek the naps, right?
Like every great person I know that's great at what they do. [19:02] They actually want the boring. [19:04] They want to work hard till they get to that board. I like to be in. I like to be away from all the BS. Right. [19:09] Right. [19:11] Right. [19:13] The second quote that stood out to me and it's so prevalent today. [19:17] If you're watching this, [19:19] I want you to pay attention if you're listening to this. [19:22] Pull over. Stop what you're doing, because this is the most important thing in 2026.
[19:27] You told everybody to start your own shit. [19:31] You've seen that anyway. Start your own shit. [19:34] There's no excuses. [19:36] For what? Nick, Nick, Nick. How about this, Nick? [19:39] If you say today, [19:41] You want to become a chef or you see it. I'm gonna just start cooking it. I'm gonna start cooking my food and salad [19:46] Mick, I'm not going to jump in front of you and stop you. Nobody's going to jump in front of you in the kitchen when you start cooking and [19:52] Mess your food a bit.
[19:54] Yeah. But you. Yeah. [19:57] You want to jump in front of you, you want to stop me before you start. So if you think about it, [20:00] Start your own shit. Would you like what's the excuses? There are none today. [20:04] There are no. [20:06] Like you can build someone else's dream. [20:08] Think about it. You definitely could build. Or you can complete your own. You've got a lot of dream builders out here. Yeah. [20:13] You know, a lot of dream builders. Yeah. [20:16] Yeah. [20:17] Next quote. [20:18] And this one, we're going to go deep.
Go ahead. [20:22] Because this one is the new keynote speech. [20:28] Don't buy it. [20:29] Block out the bullshit is the quote. [20:32] But I'm going to give everybody that's watching a good one. [20:35] What the story is. [20:37] Fear. [20:39] is what everybody's selling. [20:42] Fear is what everybody's selling. And so when Wallow says, don't buy it, block out the bullshit, he's talking about fear. [20:49] When you look social media, where do they sell fear? Fear. You look at TV, the newspaper. Where do they sell? Everybody's selling fear. That's the new hustle.
Right. [20:57] Everybody telling you the world won't end the day or we're going to start the day. You're not going to be able to. They tell you, you're going to be you're going to lose your home. You're going to lose your car. You're going to lose your job. You're going to lose your life. [21:08] That's all he's telling me. And people love it. They keep watching that BS. Yeah. I don't pay attention to it. [21:12] No, and what's crazy, because I'd like to think... [21:16] I'm really good at coaching salespeople.
Uh-huh. [21:21] And anyone that's a student of mine or a client of mine as it relates to sales. [21:26] I'm different because I teach you don't sell fear. [21:29] Hmm? [21:30] And that's what this quote, like, I promise you. [21:33] Your next keynote. [21:34] should be about that because you said it's the biggest business in the world and it made me pause and i'm like [21:40] Damn. [21:41] Wallow hit on something. [21:43] That was so simply stated, bro. [21:47] That's deep. Think about it. [21:50] That's all you, the news is based on fear.
Yeah. There's more fear sold on the news than it is positivity or encouraging energy. Yeah. [21:58] This is the biggest media outlet you got, the news. [22:02] Yep, and it's all fear. [22:05] And then this next one. And this is what. [22:07] when we talk about my boys, [22:10] And what they had to come to grips with was this right here. [22:14] Stop befriending people. [22:16] who talk about their friends. [22:20] Stop befriending people that talk about their friends because they're talking about you to make. I come, you know, me and you know each other.

[24:13] Right. [24:14] You're going to talk about me. Think about this stuff. [24:17] You're going to talk about me. Yep. [24:19] Yeah. And, [24:21] Again, I learned that lesson from Kenny Anderson. [24:25] Shout out to Kenny Anderson, by the way, my good friend, Chris Paradiso. They got me to evaluate my circle two times a year. [24:35] Because we evolve as people. [24:37] And everybody in your circle doesn't share the same mission. [24:42] And if they do, then you're not growing personally. Mm-hmm. Right. Right. [24:45] And that's what I look at.
[24:47] with you, or how? [24:50] Not only have you evolved... [24:52] But your circle changes. The moves that you make have to be different. [24:56] And everybody that's on the ride with you isn't meant to get to that final destination in whatever season that is. I'd love for you to talk about that, man, about how your circle has changed and why it changes. I got one even better for you. [25:10] A good friend of mine was also a bumble mom, Herm, right? [25:14] Um, [25:15] Hear him always say, [25:16] You got to audit your circle.
[25:19] Dump. [25:20] So you've got to order your circle. [25:21] And that's important. One thing about me, I keep my thing real lean and slim. I don't need a lot of people. [25:29] Because with a lot more people, more confusion. [25:32] You know what I mean? And more people, more expectations, more entitlement. Yeah. [25:36] people, "Oh, why you ain't come to my party? You should've came." I mean, "I didn't want to come to your party." [25:41] I don't party. [25:43] Just because it's your... I don't party. I don't care. Like...
[25:47] So you got to think about that. Like, how do you... [25:51] How do we figure it out to where do we like? [25:56] I'm so focused and so locked in that I don't need to be around anybody. Mm hmm. I don't need a hundred friends. I don't need like, listen, [26:04] You already got one of the biggest relationships that you're going to have is a relationship with your dreams. [26:08] Yeah. [26:09] Because... [26:10] At the end of the day, no matter what happened in life, [26:13] Nothing comes before the relationship with your dream.
You can be married. You can have kids. All is cool. But if you don't materialize your dream, you can't take care of them. [26:21] Mmm. [26:22] Think about that. You can't take care of them. Yeah. And... [26:26] One thing that we know is people try to say, oh, listen, listen. [26:30] We need to materialize our dreams because in order to live on this planet Earth, you need money. [26:37] You need money. Right. And one thing about money. [26:40] is. [26:41] You got to take care of school. You got to take care of shelter.
You got to take care of food. You got to take care of transportation. You got to take care of next level education. [26:50] Yep. [26:50] They got to take your health care coverage. [26:52] insurance. And one thing about money is, [26:55] Once you had a relationship with your dreams and you really materialize your dreams, you start making money. Like I said in the book, money, get money to money. [27:02] Yes, sir. [27:04] You know, once you start getting money, people just want to give you money. Right. People find ways to give you money, Mick.
They find it. Right. [27:13] Some reason. So it was like, [27:15] Like you got to have a relationship with that dream. You got to. But in order to have a true relation with your dreams, you can't have all these people around, man. Yeah. Pulling you in different directions because they are party or they know you. I know. Come here. Come to this party. Do it. No. Right. I can't be responsible for everybody. Happiness. That's it. [27:30] That's it. And another thing you said in the book, too, is. [27:34] You know, we talked about auditing your circle.
[27:37] And then you have a follow up. [27:39] But always protect those that help you win. [27:43] Because... [27:45] Winning is never a singular thing. [27:47] Yeah. Right. Like, you know, I love boxing. [27:50] Right. Old school boxing. [27:52] And you look at a Muhammad Ali, you look at a Mike Tyson, you look at an Evander Holyfield, you look at a Floyd Mayweather. [28:00] Publicly, they might be the people getting the credit and the just due, but it's other people that got them there. [28:06] And you talk about in the book, man, like,
[28:09] Never forget the people that help you win. [28:12] Those are your true people. [28:14] Talk to us about the importance of that. [28:17] You got to think about it. It's like... [28:19] A lot of winners are crazy. Like, I look at myself like I'm crazy. Mm-hmm. [28:23] When you look at the people that you got around, you got to have people around. [28:28] that understand you're crazy and believe in you're crazy. [28:31] That's why you got to respect them, Pete. [28:33] You've got to respect them people. [28:35] That's willing to.
[28:37] Believe in just all the madness. Even when you don't see the end of it. [28:43] Yeah. You can't see. You're just like, oh, damn, you're going to do what? You're like, yeah, I'm going to do that. [28:47] I can do that. You're like, what? [28:49] How can you do it? I can do it. So, so... [28:53] you got to protect them people. You got to respect them. People that believe in you. Mm hmm. [28:58] It'll help you get to [29:00] to your dreams. Yep. [29:02] Yup. It's two things you said [29:05] This is why I know that we're brothers from another mother because – [29:09] It's two things.
[29:11] One is in the book and one I hear you talk about all the time. [29:13] That my grandfather used to tell me every day of my life. And my grandfather pretty much raised me with my mom. [29:19] The first one. [29:21] was move in silence. [29:23] My grandfather used to tell me this. [29:25] When everyone knows where you're going, [29:27] you'll never get there. And when everyone knows what you have, you actually have nothing. And so I learned at a very young age, man, like [29:36] If you're trying to get something done, [29:37] Let the results speak.
[29:39] Please. [29:40] Let the results speak. [29:41] And in the book, you talk about that, man, about moving. It's like at the very beginning of the book, and that's what, again, [29:47] We're brothers from another mother because I was like, oh, I'm doing nothing else the rest of the day except reading this. Yeah. [29:53] Talk to people about why that's so important, because I feel like. [29:57] People that don't accomplish what they set out to do. [30:01] is because they told too many people about it. [30:03] And they didn't have the heart to really do it anyway.
And people put bad energy on your dreams. That's it. [30:08] Like a lot of times you'd be sitting there, you'd be thinking, [30:11] People be sitting there, man, putting all type of... They be putting all type of hex on you. They... I mean, they... [30:16] And sometimes it's good to just do it. Yeah. [30:19] Like that energy you got. What do you do? Man, if you tell somebody you tell somebody what you're attempting to do, just do the shit. Exactly. And do it. Exactly. And let the result speak. I don't have to tell anybody what I'm doing, like all the amazing things.
And for those that don't know, we're in Lalo's warehouse and in this warehouse, there's merch everywhere. There's books everywhere. There's so much that he has going on that you haven't even seen yet. [30:45] Because he's not telling anybody about it. [30:47] The results speak for themselves. The action. [30:50] Is what drives everything. Not the talk. Yep. [30:53] Not the talk. [30:54] And then the other thing, [30:56] that I got from you. And it's actually a part of the title, right? Yes to you. [31:00] No to them. [31:02] A lot of folks don't understand.
No is a complete sentence. [31:08] Period. That's the sentence. That's it. [31:11] My grandfather taught me that. That's it. You got to explain anything for what? No. [31:16] No. No. [31:18] Give your take on that, man. No being a complete sentence. And then I want to know why you wrote the book and where that title came from. One thing I love about it is this. [31:27] I love no. [31:28] No change lives. [31:30] Um... [31:32] There's going to be a lot of bickering that comes with it because. [31:35] Everybody just wants you to be a yes man.
[31:37] Yeah, they want you to be a yes man to their dreams. They want you to be a yes man to your distracts to the distractions that they bring you. They just want you to be a yes. And don't nobody remember that. No destroy all yeses. They don't remember none of the yeses before. But if you establish an. [31:52] I think people should establish they know early. [31:54] Yeah. [31:55] if younger people can establish a no in their life really they like a chance when you establish a no early [32:00] everything change.
[32:02] Yeah. [32:03] everything's changed for you, you know, when you just establish that no. Mm-hmm. [32:07] You know, and I think that that's real important. Yeah. And there's a business lesson of that. I tell entrepreneurs and especially salespeople, [32:15] I'm actually trying to get you to tell me no. I want to make it very comfortable for you to tell me no. Yeah. As soon as possible, because when there's a breakup, I don't want to wait to the very last moment to be broken up with. Right. We can break up early.
Tell me right now. We got to go nowhere. Tell me right now, because I'm cool with no because I understand it. Right. Because a lot of times no can mean two things. Me, no can mean next opportunity. [32:37] And it's a lot of there's a lot of lessons and blessings inside of a no because all nose ain't bad. Oh, sometimes you got to get the understanding of a no. If you told me no about something, make me like me. Could you elaborate on why you why you reach that destination? Like what's going on?
Which is cool. But some people, they just like they don't get what they want when they want it. Mm hmm. [32:54] and they can't take advantage of you, [32:57] Yeah. [32:57] They upset. They pissed. Yeah. [33:00] And, you know, you also put in the book. And again, I'm just going to keep repping the book today. Yes to you, no to them. Go get it. [33:07] Like right now, there's links everywhere you're looking for it. [33:12] You told me in the book. [33:14] There's eight point something billion people on Earth. [33:19] And people get confused that they need 2000 yeses.
[33:22] You say you see the five to ten. [33:24] Five to 10 yeses will change your life. Now, listen, let me explain something to you. [33:29] 5 to 10 yeses are ating you to another level because [33:32] You got to remember this. [33:36] Think about the yeses that you might need. [33:40] You need your wife to say yes. [33:43] Mm-hmm. [33:46] You got your business, Dylans. [33:48] You need an investor to say yes. [33:51] If I want... [33:53] The real investor comes. Right. [33:56] That one. Yes. Could change your life forever.
Financially. It could put some mean security around you, your wife, your kids, everything. [34:03] Um, [34:03] Any day. [34:04] It can really supercharge your business, your whole business, the speaking, the podcast, everything you got going on under the mic. [34:11] and the Nikkei brand. [34:13] Um, [34:15] And do you think about it, this [34:16] This. [34:17] That's really two yeses, why do you? [34:21] You know, your wife, yes, your foundation. [34:23] Uh... [34:25] How many more you need? [34:27] Right. [34:29] That goes back. People seek validation. And then you make a mess of yes up.
You might get a big yes in your life, mess it up. And then you come back and get another yes. [34:38] I regroup. [34:40] I didn't even think about it that way. I think about it. You don't need anybody to say yes to you. [34:46] Mm-mm. Because you got to say yes to you. It's your responsibility to say yes to you. But outside of the yes to you that you're saying to you, [34:53] If you get three to four, yes, it's five. You go. [34:56] Yeah, especially if they're important. Stop chasing the small yeses.
Everybody out here chasing these baby yeses. Oh, yeah. Yes, I go to the party with you. Yes, I go out and get drunk with you. Yes, I loan you a couple hundred dollars. Man, that's babies. That's right. Chase, focus on the big yeses. But you got to know your yes. You got to know the yes that you're looking for. [35:14] What yes is you looking for? That's it. If you're just looking for everybody to say yes, and that's going that's going to cater to your securities and your fears and your shortcomings.
[35:22] It's over. So, [35:23] What made you want to sit down? [35:26] and write this bestseller. Man, this is everything. [35:29] This right here, which is going to be a bestseller. [35:33] It was simple. [35:34] And I wanted to, you know, [35:36] pattern it after social media. [35:39] Yeah. [35:40] All the quotes you need. [35:42] You see what I'm saying? [35:44] You know, love don't have a speed limit. [35:46] Dramas dictate. [35:47] Mm. [35:49] You know what I'm saying? Because, you know, you might meet somebody just like, man, I love this.
I love this. I love what's going on. Yeah. [35:55] You know what I'm saying? Yep. [35:56] So that's how that be. Nah, I. And again, I'm going to keep talking about the book. Mm hmm. [36:03] I promise you, you're going to be like me. [36:05] And I told Waller this, I read it four times. [36:08] Right. That's major. [36:10] And now every day I go to what I call a passage. [36:14] Because he just held it up for you every day. You can go to a certain section of the book.
[36:19] And that passage, that message is going to speak to you and then put action around what that means to you today. And here's actually what I want people to do. [36:28] And this just came to me. [36:30] If you're watching, if you're listening right now, go get the book. [36:37] June 16th. [36:39] And what I want to do 30 days later, starting July 16th, and I'm going to start the movement with this. Uh-huh. [36:46] Collectively. [36:48] We're going to choose a message from the book. [36:50] And we're going to talk about it that day and every week.
Yes. Every week. That's what we're going to do. We're going to take. [36:56] A quote from the book. [36:58] and on social media. [36:59] That's going to be the driving topic we talk about that week and put action behind it, because as much as they're quotes. [37:06] They're actually actions for you to take. [37:09] to do something to change your life, to make your life better, to make your business better, to make you a better person. [37:16] And we're going to talk about it and we're going to share with Wallow.
[37:18] What that message meant that week for us. Can you see this? [37:22] That's what I'm talking about. Yes, you know to them. [37:25] The new bestseller. [37:26] Yes, sir. You best sell it. Mm-hmm. [37:28] I wallow. [37:30] So this one I call the room. [37:35] Every person I know that's [37:37] done something. [37:41] There was a room, a meeting. [37:43] A dinner. [37:46] that changed their life. [37:48] What was that for you? Was it a room? Was it a meeting? Was it a dinner? Was it a conversation? What was that moment for Walla that changed your life?
It wasn't just the room. [37:56] It's the rooms that lead up to that room. [37:58] They get you ready for it because one room. [38:03] Open up a door in another room. That's why you got to you got to know how to move in rooms. Yeah, because [38:08] I might come to your room and you might give me a certain offer and offer you give me a year room. [38:13] Might lead to somebody else trying to give me an offer in another room. So it's rooms, but... [38:18] The strongest room I've been in.
[38:20] It was a small little office. [38:23] And, [38:27] Me and my partner, me and Gil walking that room. [38:30] And in less than five minutes, [38:32] Tens of million dollar deal was done and we walked out. [38:36] It was simple. It wasn't no back and forth. It wasn't a... Right. [38:38] They said this, they said this. [38:40] All right, well, this one I'm going to do. Here, take that. [38:43] Walked out. [38:45] Wow. [38:46] Last and last and. [38:48] Three minutes, probably. [38:50] And what was the feeling when you walked out the room?
[38:54] It was unimaginable. [38:56] I thought about it all night because it was like, man, this is great. That was great. [38:59] And you just be like, [39:03] You know that you wasn't as crazy as you thought you was. You're like, no, you know something. You got to really be crazy. [39:09] Yeah. [39:10] Believe in yourself, but it's but it get even more crazier. [39:15] When you see that. [39:16] Other people believe in you that, [39:18] The game changers believe in you. The life changers believe in you. [39:22] Now you really like shit.
Right. [39:25] and [39:26] Knowing the person that you are today. [39:31] For you now. [39:33] You're about creating those rooms for other people. Mm-hmm. Right? [39:37] I see all the work that you're doing. [39:39] That doesn't get publicized. Yeah. Because you move in silence. Right. Like you don't need to publicize. You doing things for people and you doing things in the community. That's not who you are. [39:49] But you are creating those rooms. [39:51] For those that are watching, for those that are listening. [39:53] What's the criteria? [39:55] To get in a wallow room.
What are you looking for? Be you. My rooms is everywhere. [40:00] You might get in my room in the airport. [40:02] It might be in a hotel lobby. It might be walking down the street. It ain't about [40:06] It is about [40:08] You got to make it make sense. Yeah. [40:10] Once you see me, [40:12] It makes sense. I'm stopping. Yeah. Talk to you. I can I talk to anybody, but it's like you talk about some serious stuff. [40:20] As soon as you make it make sense, I'm open. My mind is...
[40:22] And I'm like, that's the room right there. Yeah. [40:26] I love it. You know, some people, some people want to get in the room and don't even know what they're going in the room to talk about sometime. Yeah. And when I run into people like that, try to educate them. I'm like, listen, [40:35] This is what I need you to do. Let's start this over. [40:38] Yeah. And he'd miss him. Let's start it over. [40:41] No, this is what you need to say. [44:06] That's how much I believe in the book, because. [44:09] When my kids like something. [44:12] I know it was something bigger than me. [44:14] And again, I'm giving you your flowers, bro.
Thank you, my brother, because it's that deep. [44:18] Thank you, man. I appreciate you. All right. And then also... [44:22] Because I'm also here. [44:25] The first 20 people. [44:28] You see these, right? [44:32] I think I need to get 20 people. I'm going to buy them. I think I need to get 20 people. These. Mm hmm. [44:38] That's major, Mick. [44:40] Because here's the kick, though, because I can't just go buy 20 of like one size of these shoes. [44:45] You got it. [44:47] Figure out the sizes and get back what it is.
Yeah. [44:51] But the first 20 people... [44:54] I got to figure out how to do this so it's fair. [44:56] They got to follow the brand. [44:58] And the brand is Airplanes and Hotel. [45:02] And I'll have links to that on social too. [45:04] You got to follow the brand. [45:06] You got to follow Wallow. You got to follow me. And you got to message the three of us so that I can confirm and validate. [45:14] I'll reply back if you're in the top 20. [45:17] Give me your shoe size.
[45:19] I got you. [45:20] These are the most comfortable shoes and I travel a lot. [45:23] Airplanes and hotels. [45:25] That used to be my nickname. That's where I'm at. [45:29] That's where I'm at. [45:31] When I tell you these are comfortable, these are all day. Yes. [45:34] These are these. [45:36] So much so... [45:38] I got a speaking engagement. [45:40] Monday. I think I'm aware of these on stage. Yes, sir. [45:44] I think I'm going to wear these on stage. Yes, sure. That's how comfortable they are. [45:47] So, ladies and gentlemen, [45:49] I threw out the challenge.
[45:51] Hit me up now. Walla, I got to get you out of here. [45:53] This unplugged five, this rapid fire. [45:58] I don't know if you're ready. I'm ready. [46:00] The hardest no you ever had to say. [46:03] was to who. [46:05] Myself. [46:08] My hardest note was to me, too. To me. [46:10] It was to me, looking in the mirror. [46:13] Who's a better hooper? [46:15] You were Gilly. Gilly. [46:17] No doubt. Yeah. I'll be lying. I'll be. My game ain't like that. It used to be. Now, back in 92, 93, that's different.
Okay. Okay. [46:25] Okay. All right. We're in Philly. [46:30] The king of the cheesesteak. [46:31] Mm-hmm. [46:33] I've had some recommendations that I haven't loved. I'm going to be honest. [46:36] I'm gonna give you the best record. That's that's it. The best cheesesteak in Philly is. [46:41] Taste cheese steak. They got an ox tail cheese steak. [46:44] Okay. [46:45] Yes, I'm going to see you do. [46:47] Okay. [46:48] I love it. [46:49] I love it. [46:51] I need you to finish this sentence. The freedom that follows. [46:56] saying no. [46:59] Feels like.
[47:01] The freedom that follows saying no. [47:03] Feels like. Feels like. Greatest thing in your life. [47:08] Greatest thing in your life. [47:10] So the last question is the two part. [47:14] When the story of your life is being produced. [47:18] when the movie Wallow comes out. [47:21] Because I'm putting that in the I'm putting it out there. What's one. [47:27] Or two words you want to define you and your legacy in that film. [47:31] giver. [47:33] Giver. [47:34] Who plays you in that film? That's the follow up. [47:38] Michael B.
Joy. [47:40] If you'd have asked me that, that's exactly who I would have said. Michael B. Jordan. [47:47] Ladies and gentlemen, this has been my good friend, Wallow267. I'm going to keep saying it. Go get this book. Yes to you, no to them. It's available right now. It's available right now. Wallow, brother. I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you, Mick. I appreciate you. I appreciate you for coming out here, man. Yes, sir. Mick unplugged. That's it. And to all the viewers and listeners, remember, your because is your superpower.
